use kaun dekh saktaa ki yagaana hai vo yaktaa
jo du.ii kii buu bhii hotii to kahii.n do-chaar hotaa
(0621;132)
Meaning
Who can see Him,
for He is alone (yagana) and He is unique (yakta).
If ever there was a whiff of duality,
surely we would have run into him (do-char hona)
Explanation/Comment:
Ghalib is talking of God in this ‘sher’.
Who can see Him,, he says, for He is alone (singular) and also unique (no one like Him).
Ghalib here stresses on the non-duality of God.
If ever there was even a chance of duality, surely we would have run into Him somewhere.
The singularity and uniqueness of God makes Him distinct and unapproachable.
This reality must be grasped.
However, that does not prevent human beings from doing godly acts.
In fact, it prompts them to do such acts more so, and become God-like in the process
